Having started his legal career in the major City firm MacFarlanes at the start of the 1980’s, Hamish McNair worked mainly in the City of London (gaining knowledge of a broad commercial-based practice), but also internationally in the USA, before aspiring to become the sole principal in a small but varied and busy practice in West London.
Hamish realised there was scope for a
specialist in an area which is dominated by departments of major firms (usually
based in the City, charging very high fees), so he established McNair & Co
in 1988 and has been joined there by Allison Fairbairn - a solicitor who
qualified in
Scotland.
He has
dealt with both Trademark and Copyright Law since 1982 and has rich experience
to share with those seeking an answer to their questions. He is acutely aware
that value for money is sought and
expected.
Hamish is a member of the Executive Committee of the Law Society’s Sole
Practitioner Group and a member of the editorial board of “Solo”, which is the
Group’s publication. Outside work he is fond of sailing and swimming and he
plays tennis.
